Hardin and Jane came from North Carolina before 1870 with his parents, John A. and Elizabeth Evans Hill along with a large group of other Hill kin. They stopped off in Clearfork, Tazewell County, Virginia for a few years working on a farm on the West Virginia/Virginia border before moving on Bramwell Hill in West Virginia.

Hardin & Jane Jones Hill lived on Bramwell Hill in a log cabin on 150 acres of land purchased November 1, 1875 from Isom and Sarah Witten for $250 by their son, Wiley G. Hill in Deed #8/60. They lived here until their deaths sometime after October 25, 1883. This land bordered on 75 acres purchased by their son, Felix Shelton Hill from Isom and Sarah Witten on the same day for $200.

Deed #13/131
Notation in deed from Wiley G. Hill for land conveyed to James Frank Hill, his younger brother on October 25, 1883.
After describing the boundries of the land purchase for $250 of 103 acres of the original 150 acres of land that Wiley G. Hill purchased on November 1, 1875, these words were inserted:

And for further consideration, Hardin Hill and Jane Hill his wife is to have a sufficient support and maintenance off the above conveyance real estate during their natural life. And where as the same Hardin Hill and Jane Hill his wife is to retain possession of the house in which they now live during their natural life in a quiet and peaceful manner. And where as if the requirement of this obligation is complied with upon the part of the party of the second part here he is to hold the above conveyance real estate with all the rights title and in trust of the parties of the first part with the same party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever.

Sadly, we have no way of knowing the exact date that Hardin and Jane died after October 25, 1883 since the family member who took the family Bible has since died and her family will not cooperate in making the information available.
