Wife of William Cox, dau. of Dempsey Dowling & Martha Stokes. William Cox was b. 7 Feb 1807 Stewart Co. GA d. 12 Nov 1863 LA - From the writing of Martha (Cox) Matthews: " William Cox came to Dale early - Lizzie was born 4 weeks after he came... He settled the Edward Dowling place-short distance from Ed Dowlings settlement. He went to Texas from there. My Asbel[James Asbell Matthews) was a baby 2 months old when Papa went to Texas (in July 1855)... My mother, Millie.. Her grave is at one end of my little daughter, Ester Ann's grave. The latter is marked by a slab, then by her is my two little brothers. ."
