Mrs. Marie Hagen Bernston, 84, former Atchison resident, died at 1 a.m. today in Bellflower, Calif., where she had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Helen Plumb, for the past year. She had been ill three years.
Services will be held Monday at St. Cyprian church, Lakewood, Calif. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Long Beach.
Mrs. Bernsten was born in Germany in 1888 and came to Kansas when she was one year old. She was married to Robert C. Hagen who died Dec. 30, 1933. In 1941, she married Ben Berntsen who died in 1948.
A son, Robert Hagen, also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Plumb and Mrs. Dorothy Kilfoyl, San Francisco, and two sons, Charles and Harold Hagen, Long Beach, Calif., 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews live in Atchison.
She was a sister of the late Theodore Geritz and Mrs. John Urban.
