Alan Sherwood Lewis, 55, Anderson, died April 27,2003, at the VA Northern Indiana Healthcare in Marion after an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 29, 1947, in Anderson, the son of Paul Alan and Elizabeth (Glover) Lewis, and former Alexandria resident, having resided most of his lifetime in the Madison County area.
He was a 1965 graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School. He was a veteran during the Viatnam era. He was employed as a welder at the Fun Country Marine Industries in Muncie.
Survivors include two daughters, Chalee Dawn Lewis of New Buffalo, Mich., and Ashley O'Neal Lewis of Anderson; son, Christopher Alan Cage of Anderson; mother Elizabeth (Glover) Lewis of Anderson; sister, Cassandra Maynard of Fort Wayne; and grandchildren, Avery Brooke James and Alayna Beth James.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Alan Lewis; grandfather, Guy C. Lewis; and grandmother, Phala K. (Castor) Lewis/
A family memorial service was held April 30 with the Rev. Michael Adams officiating. Following cremation, interment will take place in Jones Cemetery in Yorktown. Arrangements are being handled by Owens Funeral Home, Alexandria.
