Son of I. Putnam Sheldon (1855-1908) & Eva Lowden. He was the twin brother to Dora Sheldon (1889-1983), wife of Leo T. Whaley. He died tragically at age 20.

YOUNG SHELDON LEFT
A FAREWELL NOTE
WROTE TO BROTHER AND BADE
MEMBERS OF FAMILY LAST
GOOD BYE.

Had Stated Previously That Liquor Habit Had Hard Held On Him and He Would Break it Some Way.
Leo Sheldon of McKenzie and Ted Sheldon of Iowa Falls, la., brothers of the young man who committed suicide here Tuesday evening, arrived in the city yesterday, and new developments resulted in the story of the deed. It seems that Don wrote a letter to Leo directing him to tarn over a horse which he bad sold to a neighbor by the name of Kittteson, for the sum of $117 In with the order for the transfer was a letter in which Don bade his brother and all members of the family good bye and stated that they would never see him again. Leo was rather surprised at the time be received the letter and made an attempt to come to the city at once, but on account of the condition of the weather was unable to start and afterwards made up his mind that matters were all right and gave up the idea of coming to Bismarck. The first he knew of the suicide was
when a messenger arrived' at his place Wednesday morning bringing news of the deed. He then came as fast as possible to Bismarck and gave out the news of the letter and its contents It Is stated that Don has made several threats of suicide before and stated that If he could not break away from the liquor habit he would end it all by the suicide route. Ted, who has been living in Iowa, also states That relatives of Don have feared for some time that he would commit suicide. There was a story started yesterday that the young man might have been accidently killed while fooling with the new revolver he had purchased, but in the light of the letters and the remarks of the dead man, it looks like a case of premeditated suicide. All, or nearly all, of the money which young Sheldon had during his stay in the city, has been accounted for. The case is still liable to be opened for further investigation as there is nothing final about the verdict of a coroner's Jury.
The body of Don Sheldon was taken to Iowa Falls last evening and C. D. Rogers of McKenzie accompanied the remains. The two brothers could not be present at the funeral as it was necessary for them to return to the farm to take care of the stock.
