OAKLAND Marion Lawrence McGregor, 79, of Oakland, died at 1:35 p.m. Friday (June 11, 1999) at Paris Community Hospital, Paris. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Taber Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Sweeney officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born June 24, 1919, in Brocton, the son of Earl and Mae McGregor. He married Pauline Wright in 1940. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Myron McGregor and Lyle McGregor, both of Oakland, and Lowell McGregor of Lovington; one daughter, Kay Lovell of Effingham; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters, and two grandchildren.

Mr. McGregor was a retired farmer and woodworker. He was a lifetime member of the Antioch Separate Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for 58 years. He was a former member of the Douglas County Soil and Water Conservation Board and the Oakland School Board. Memorials may be made to the Antioch Separate Baptist Church.
