Nathaniel Harris may be buried in the Simmons cemetery in Tobinsport. Perry County Indiana, or he may have been buried on his family farm-the Nathaniel and fanny Bruener Harris family farm in Perry County Indiana, which may currently be the David and Evelyn Adams farm which passed through the ownership of Peter Harris--son of Nathaniel Harris.----- Nathaniel's wife was Francis "Fanny" Bruener Harris, and after Nathaniel Harris died circa 1829, she remarried a second time Mr. Hart Humphrey apparently in November 1830. ---- It was often practice for the groundskeepers mowing the lawn to bury the headstones below the grass so that they could mow the lawn easier. over the years I have discovered this to be the case in many old cemeteries. If one were to take a metal rod and probe into the sod-grass they might discover that many or all of these headstones were buried so that the grass could be mowed much quicker. Many of these old headstones were JUST CREEK STONES and they had no inscription on them, so the groundskeepers didn't feel bad about burying a Creekstone grave Marker that had no inscription. ----- Also, many of these 19th century graves had a footstone. even the Creekstone marked graves additionally had a Creekstone foot marker, and often these footstone markers were buried to mow the lawn easier. This has been the case in many cemeteries that I have helped restore. ---- Nathaniel had a brother William who married Polly Brunner born in Mercer County, KY. she being a sister of Nathaniel‘s wife Fannie Bruner. So two Harris brothers married two Bruner sisters. These were daughters of Peter Bruner of Mercer county Kentucky, and earlier of Virginia. The Bruner’s apparently came from Zürich Switzerland. These Harrises seem to have come through Mercer county Kentucky and possibly earlier in Buckingham County Virginia. There seems to have been a brother to Nathaniel and William named Hezekiah.
