Lowell Roger Dawson passed away early July 24, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

Lowell was born April 10, 1945 in Ogden, Utah, to Harold and Doris Dawson. He grew up in Layton, Utah alongside his siblings Mark Dawson, Karlene Greenwood, Joyce Barker and Patricia Morris. He worked hard with his father and brother raising bees to sell honey.

He loved to play sports, but was often in casts with injuries forcing him to be a spectator. He graduated from Davis High School and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Australia in 1964.

Lowell met his sweetheart, Joyce Tullis, in 1967 at Weber State University. They were later married in the Salt Lake Temple on January 12, 1968.

After completing dental school, Lowell had dental practices in Evanston, Wyoming; Omaha, Nebraska; and Mesquite, Texas before settling in Rock Springs, Wyoming where he had a practice for 20 years. He often traded dental services or even performed services for free for those who could not afford to pay. He also had many friends who he loved and adored him.

Lowell was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held and magnified several callings including Sunday school teacher, High Councilman, and Bishop. He had a deep and strong testimony of the Gospel, especially of the atoning sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lowell had many passions in life, including Dr. Pepper, a good cheeseburger, western movies, gardening, writing screenplays, and reading, but his greatest love was for his family and especially his dear wife, Joyce.

He and Joyce have five children: Annette (Derik) Quinn, Ben (Andrea) Dawson, Sara (Ron) McGurie, Clint (Katherine) Dawson, and Stacie (Corey) Nieves. He found great joy and amusement in his 12 grandchildren: Jeremy, Jordan, Megan, Michael, Jasen, Emma, Spencer, Hallie, Jack, Tess, Zack, and Sam. He was a generous father and grandfather and always looked out for his family.

Lowell's example of selflessness and tender loving care for his wife the last few years will never be forgotten. He was our biggest supporter and we will miss him dearly. His sudden illness and passing was a shock, but we are grateful that he is at peace and has been reunited with his parents and sister. We know that he is still watching over and caring for mom.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Doris Dawson; and his sister, Joyce Barker.

The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff and healthcare providers especially the nurses, at McKay-Dee Hospital for their compassion and diligent care.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main. Friends may visit family Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
