Miguel was survived by six sons: Michael, Dennis, Steve, David, Paul and Gerald; three daughters: Cecilia, Theresa and Jessica; four sisters: Carmen Sánchez of Alcalde, Ramona Pacheco of Superior, Arizona, Lydia Mares of Santa Fe and Erlinda García of Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers: Phil Maestas of Monterrey, California and Avenicio Maestas of Santa Cruz; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.

On 1943, Santa Cruz; Miguel Maestas (B: 2 Oct 1925, Santa Cruz), a resident of Santa Cruz, registered for the World War II draft. He was employed by United Engineers in Oakland, California. He was described as 5' 5", 129 pounds, dark complexion, black hair, and brown eyes. Next of kin was recorded as his father Bonafacio Maestas. It was annotated that he was discharged on 13 April 1946 (Draft Card).

A wake service was on 11 June 2002 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of De Vargas Funeral Home. Memorial Mass was on 13 June 2002 at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Honorary pallbearers: Michael M. Maestas, Phil, Avenicio, Ben and David Maestas, Johnny Borrego and all his grandchildren. Miguel was cremated by De Vargas Funeral Home of the Española Valley.
