OBITUARY Mrs. Elisabeth Rieman

Elizabeth Mary Vahling, daughter of Clemens Vahling and Mary Angela Vormoor Vahling was born February 24, 1873 at Teutopolis, Illinois and departed this life March 15, 1951 at Densmore, West Union, Norton, Kansas, USA. She moved to New Almelo with her parents in 1881 where they resided several years before returning to Teutopolis.

On November 12, 1895, she was united in marriage to Henry Rieman. To this union six children were born, all of whom survive.

Mother Riemann, as she was lovingly called, was a friend to everyone. To know her was to love and respect her.

She was a member of St Mary parish and St Mary Altar society. Her illness extended over a period of several years but she was always cheerful and interested in her family, and friends. While the new St Mary Church was under construction she was bedfast for a long time and often, wondered if she would be permitted to live long enough to see it completed. Her wish was granted and she was able to attend services frequently. Her funeral was the first to be conducted from the new Church. Mrs Riemann suffered a severe heart attack Monday evening, March 12th, but she rallied again and got up to eat dinner with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Riemann. She died a short time later.

She is survived by her five sons, Joe and Lawrence of Edmond, Kansas, Frank, Alf and Louis of Densmore, West Union, Norton, Kansas, USA, a daughter, Mrs. Lens. Juergensmeier, one step-son George of Centerville Station, Illinois; five ; brothers, Clem and John Vahling of New Almeio, Herman Vahling of Effingham, Joe and Frank Vahling of Teutopolis; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Thoele of Teutopolis and Sister M. Mathia, St Louis, Missouri She also
leaves 30 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter many nephews and nieces and numerous friends. She was predeceased by her husband on. Sept. 23, 1939, a step-son Harry on June 20, 1905 and an older brother Henry Vahling

Funeral services were held Saturday morning, March 17th at 9:30 with Msgr. Thomas Keogan officiating:. St. John's Choir of Logsn with Miss Viola Pauly as organist sang the Requiem High Mass. Raymond Jurgensmeier, Eugene Jurgensmeier, Harold, Arnold, Kenneth and Gary Riemann acted as casket bearers for
their grandmother while four smaller grandsons, Bernard, Ronald and Darrel Riemann and Leroy Juergensmeier were mass servers.

Interment was in St Mary Cemetery.
