He enlisted in COMPANY C, ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-SEVENTH INDIANA VOLUNTEER INFANTRY in February 1865 and served six months in the Civil War. At the time of his death he was aged sixty-four years, three months and eighteen days. He was a member of L. H. ROUSSEAU Post G. A. R. , and the members of that post, especially Jeremiah HATFIELD, kindly cared for him and supplied his wants for several years. He lived alone in his own home in the west part of town for several years, but more recently a sister lived with him and helped care for him. He was a Republican in politics. He leaves two brothers, William and John AIKIN, residents of Illinois, and three sisters, Mrs. Eliza UMSTEAD, of Illinois; Mrs. Sarah BURCHAM of Sharkey, and Miss Martha AIKIN, of this place. The funeral services were held at the Christian church last Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Elder J. A. SPENCER.
