Bronwen Ann Brooks, age 90, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at St. Mary’s at Felician Village.

Bronwen was born on August 6, 1926 in Rock Ferry, England to the late John and Catherine Moran Philpotts. Bronwen met her beloved husband, Angelus Brooks, during World War II in England. The were united in marriage on March 2, 1946 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Rock Ferry, England. She then crossed the Atlantic Ocean on the S.S. Holbrook with fellow war brides to join her husband in Manitowoc on June 6, 1946 where she began her new life in America. Bronwen had been employed at Mirro Aluminum Company, Fanny Farmer Candy Store, and later retired from First Wisconsin Bank. She kept active with many hobbies including sewing, knitting, and reading. Bronwen also enjoyed visiting with her friends in The War Brides Club and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.

Survivors include Bronwen’s husband of 70 years: Andy Brooks; three children: Cathy (Paul) Peters, Manitowoc; Pamela (Joseph) Pyzyk, Brookfield; and Paul Brooks, Two Rivers; four grandchildren: Andrew (Sarah) Pyzyk, Michael Pyzyk, Nathan (Michelle) Brooks, and Laura (Steve) nee Brooks Kratz; four great grandchildren: Logan, Ethan, and Landon Brooks, and Mason Kratz; sister: Joyce (Joe) McKeown, England; three sisters-in-law: Joyce, Margaret, and Therese Philpotts; special friends: Caroline and Allen Kaderbek; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bronwen was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers: William, John, Roy, Brian and Alan Philpotts; and three sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand – 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier and Rev. Kenneth Knippel with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum.
