Carroll Daily Herald - Thursday, December 12, 1929 - Mrs. Adeline Bates is quite ill.

Carroll Daily Herald - Wed, Dec 18, 1929 - Mrs C.A. Bates, an aunt of Mrs Myron Davis of Carroll, died Saturday at her home in Grant City, Dec 14 at 12. She was taken ill with heart trouble a little more than 2 months ago and coupled with the infirmities of age gradually failed until the end came.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Presbyterian church in Auburn.

Adeline Cordelia Irish was born in Coldwater, MI Nov 20, 1847. At the age of 10 she moved with her parents to Bloomington, WI, where she grew to womanhood. In 1866 she was united in marriage to Samuel H Bates, who died 16 years ago.

Three children were born to this union and three preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, three grandsons, and 2 great grandchildren.

They moved to Sac county in 1878 and located on a farm where she resided ever since. She was a pioneer mother and showed a spirit of adventure and industry.

Out of town relatives at the funeral were Myron Davis and family of Carroll; Mrs Enie Schugg of Newell; Mrs Mildred Richardson and brother, Clayton Wessell, of Adaza.
