A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Bertha Mae Myers Thibodeaux, 95, who passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Southwind Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Crowley.
Father Gilbert Dutel, Pastor of St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette, will officiate.
Bertha was born July 27, 1921 in Estherwood, Louisiana and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. She was a parishioner of St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette.
Bertha was active in her community and belonged to St. Edmond's Altar Society and was a contributing member of St. Vincent de Paul. Her faith always shined brightly in her life. She enjoyed fond memories of dancing with the love of her life, Milton. Most of all, Bertha loved spending time with her family and friends.
Bertha is survived by her daughter, Pamela Thibodeaux Clark and her husband, Hollis of Cankton; two sons, Terry Thibodeaux of Independence and Keith Thibodeaux and his wife, Cathy of Scott; one sister, Mary Myers Isabell of Bangs, TX; one brother, Robert Myers of Jennings; one sister-in-law, Verna Lou Thibodeaux Miller of Rayne; five grandchildren, Milton Thibodeaux, Michael Thibodeaux, Mitzi Thibodeaux, Tina Thibodeaux and Joshua Barnhill and his wife, Adrienne and numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Thibodeaux; her parents, Ozon and Julia LeJeune Myers; two brothers, Elridge Myers, Sr. and Paul Hilliard Myers; one sister, Ruby Myers Abshire; her daughter-in-law, Janis Thibodeaux; three sisters-in-law, Sybil Thibodeaux Miller, Eva Ruth Thibodeaux Faulk and Anna Mae Thibodeaux Leger and two brothers-in-laws, Freddie Miller and Allen Leger.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of Southwind Healthcare and Rehabilitation and Lamm Hospice, both in Crowley for the compassionate care given to Bertha and her family.
Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.
