Robert P. Schmidt, age 57, a Manitowoc resident, died Friday, August 19, 2016.

He was born on October 13, 1958 in Manitowoc, son of the late Jerome & Dolores (Hammel) Schmidt. Robert attended Valders High School. On March 9, 2001 he married the former Kaye Kocourek. She preceded him in death in 2010. Robert was employed at Brillion Iron Works and also Poplar Farms Sales & Service. Robert enjoyed the outdoors and fishing on the boat “Never Enough”. He will be missed by all who knew him and was always there to help when needed.

Survivors include two sons: Eric Schmidt, Two Rivers, Kyle Schmidt, Green Bay; one granddaughter: Alivia Mae Schmidt, Waupaca; one step daughter: Tracy Zipperer and her children: Calista, Genesis & Daymian, Manitowoc; four brothers and sisters-in-law: Charles (Char) Schmidt, Two Rivers, Richard (Diane) Schmidt, Manitowoc, John (Lisa) Schmidt, Appleton, Kevin (Barb) Schmidt, Manitowoc; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Rosie (Bill) Brunner, Manitowoc, Patsy (DuWayne) Retlich, Elkhart Lake, Joan (Mark) Evrard, Indiana, Carol (Scott) Niven, Francis Creek; one brother-in-law: Conrad Knier, Crandon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Tom (Betsy) Kocourek, Gary (Kathy) Kocourek, David (Cindy) Kocourek, Steve (Karen) Kocourek, Sally Kocourek, Diane (Greg) Neuser; mother of his children: Julie Schmidt, Whitelaw; and a special friend: Greg Lambert. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by a sister: Shirley Knier; a brother: Michael Schmidt; a nephew: Michael Brunner; and a brother-in-law: Richard Kocourek.

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016 at All-Care Reception Center, 925 S. 14th Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Memorial Service will be the Rev. David Beaudry.
