Robert Perry Welker, 93, of Meridian passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016 at a local care center. He was born February 18, 1923 in Nampa, son of William and Cora E. Perry Welker. Robert married Bonney d. Askey, September 14, 1951 in Reno, Nevada. They have resided in Nampa since 1950.

Bob worked for several meat packing plants in the Treasure Valley, retiring as a boner from H. H. Keim, LTD in 1985. He was a member of the Nampa Elks Lodge B.P.O. No. 1389. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church. He served six years in the U. S. Navy. Four of those years were during WW11.
Bob enjoyed carpenter work and fishing (it was said of him that "he enjoyed camping, fishing and fixing"); and traveling with his R.V. around the United States. He was a devoted father and grandfather. His favorite days were filled with family. His outlook on life was always positive.

Bob is survived by his son William (Bud) Welker; two grandsons Kevin and Ben Welker; and one great-grandson Colton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bonney; six sisters and one brother.

A graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 11 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Road in Boise. Arrangements by Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 467-7300 Condolences may be expressed at zeyerfuneralchapel.com
