Grace Northey was my 3-greatgrandmother. My father's 2-great-grandmother. She was born in Gwennap, Cornwall, England. Daughter of William Carvolth and Elizabeth Stodderan of Cornwall, England. Wife of James Northey. Mother of six which included my 2-greatgrandmother Mary Northey Smith. Grace married James on December 2, 1824 in Kenwyn, Cornwall, England. James died 22 Feb 1848. Grace immigrated to the US sometime in the 1800's. She is found in the 1870 US Federal Census living with her nephews William and Rev Francis Northey in Barclay Twp.,Bradford Co. PA. She had immigrated to the U.S. to help her nephew, Rev Northey. She died in 1875. The property that Grace's grave was on has been purchased and most of the stones have been removed. Her stone is no more. A garage and driveway have been built upon the graves. This is an example of why photographing old graves and transcribing old cemeteries is so important. One day the stones may be gone. Some may crumble and some may be removed. Many thanks to volunteer Robert Lackey for the photo and information.

~Paternal 3rd great-grandmother~

Update: The property has once again been sold and a small portion of Graces' grave has been uncovered. All that remains is the name Northey. I'm hoping that the portion will still be there when I find a volunteer to take a photo. I have the names and inscriptions for all that was once the The Old Union Cemetery (Roaring Branch) and I will be adding them soon. All need to be remembered.
