Wesley Lane Dunn passed away at his home at 5:37 am Saturday, August 20, 2016 from lung cancer. He was born August 2, 1944 at his parents’ home in Forge Creek. Lane was a respected member of the Fall Branch community and an active member of WalnutGroveBaptistChurch where he served as chairman of the Van Committee and the Building and Grounds Committee. He was a skilled carpenter and spent the latter part of his working years as a vinyl siding contractor. Lane enjoyed riding four wheelers and was an accomplished marksman with the shotgun. His favorite pastime was sitting on the front porch talking with family and friends. Lane was the youngest child of Cecil “Teed” and Mary May Dunn. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother William “Cap” Dunn and sister Emma Jean Glenn Jennings. Lane is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Lipford Dunn of the home. Other survivors include: one daughter, Lisa Poteet and husband Russ of Mtn. City; two sons, Larry Dunn and wife Greta of Warrensville, NC and Brandon Dunn and fiancée April of Mtn. City; Grandchildren: Josh Poteet of Johnson City, and Luke, Rachel, and Faith Poteet of Mtn. City. Two step-grandsons, Austin Clark and Mason Dunn; one brother, Boyd and wife Shirley of Mtn. City; sisters-in-law Ora May and husband Mike (who was a cousin and special friend) of Mtn. City and Gladys Wade of Lincoln, DE ; brothers-in-law Jay Snyder of Lincoln, DE and Larry Lipfird of Hudson NC; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Special friends include Buford Lipford, Jim Hampton, and Lynn Courtner. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, August 22, 2016 at 7:00 pm at WalnutGroveBaptistChurch with Reverends Sam Icenhour and Russell Poteet officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 pm prior to the service. Interment will be Tuesday, August 23 at 11:00 am in the DunnFamilyCemetery. Active pallbearers are: Josh Poteet, Luke Poteet, Philip Dugger, Gary Johnson, Greg Johnson, Ronnie Dunn, Victor Dunn, and Greg Dunn. Honorary pallbearers are: Keith Johnson, Steve Johnson, and Boyd Lipford. The Family is receiving visitors Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21 at the home at 245 Dunn Lane, Mtn.City, TN. Professional services for Mr. Lane Dunn are being provided by Hux- Lipford Funeral home, of MountainCity.
