Ambrose Eads was the son of Elijah and Elizabeth Gilpin Eads. He was born in Kentucky and moved to Iowa and Missouri. He married Martha Elizabeth Doughtery in 1858. They had eight children -

Keturah (Kitty), Alonzo, Lucy (Wilma), Joseph, John, Mary (Mollie), Anna, and Thomas.

He married Allie Adailine Isom in 1882 and had one child, Elisha Allen.

He died in 1888.
