Jenny Lou Windus, age 71, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay.

Jenny was born on July 10, 1945 in Manitowoc to the late Harold and Viola Sorenson Carstens. After completing grade school at First German Evangelical Lutheran School, she graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1963. On May 29, 1965 Jenny married Gale Windus at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Jenny had met many people while she had been employed at Shopko in the shoe department for 30 years. She enjoyed taking Gale for a drive every day, "kind of". Jenny also enjoyed going with Gale to the casino and meeting several friends on bus trips. Above all, Jenny cherished being with her family and having them together for family dinners. She was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church and Shopko Retirement Breakfast and Birthday Club.

Survivors include Jenny's husband of 51 years: Gale; daughter: Kim (Fritz Jr.) Emme, Manitowoc; three grandchildren who were the pride in her life: Nicholas, Alex and Anna; sister: Shirley Gaedtke, Manitowoc; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law to include: Paul (Evelyn) Windus, Charles (Barb) Windus, and Larry Windus, all of Manitowoc; and Diane Dietrie, Lena; special friends: Don and Ruby Orth, Manitowoc; also other relatives and many friends. Jenny was preceded in death by her parents: Harold and Viola Carstens; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Erwin and Helen Windus; the son she loved very much and missed dearly: Jeffrey Windus; sister: Lois Waniger; and brothers-in-law: Roman Gaedtke and Kenneth Dietrie;

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. Rev. Robert Kujawski and Rev. Stephen Melso will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home following the graveside service. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. The visitation will continue the following day on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any memorials in Jenny's name which will be donated to her son Jeffrey's scholarship fund at Latin School of Chicago.

Jenny's family would like to thank all of the family and friends for the overwhelming support they provided during this difficult time.

Jenny was the best wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. She is now at peace and reunited with her son, Jeffrey.
