Valentine was born in Diersburg, Baden, Germany on May 4, 1866. His parents were Karl and Karolina Feist. Karl & Karolina came to America in January 1873, arriving in New York on the "Holland" with Pauline (11), Valentine (6) and Theresa (9 months). Karolina went back to Germany. She returned to America arriving in New Orleans on the "Hannover" in May 1876 with Pauline (12), Michael (10), Valentine (8), Magdalene (6) and Maria (2).
In 1880, the family was living in Milam, Texas.
Valentine married Maria Goeke on January 9, 1894 in Westphalia, Falls County, Texas in a double wedding with his sister, Mary Feist, and Maria's brother, Fred Goeke.
Valentine was a farmer in Westphalia, Falls County, Texas. There was unceasing rain and crop failures followed by a cholera epidemic. Valentine became ill and died September 13, 1908. He is buried in Saint Joseph Cemetery in Cyclone, Texas.
