Georgina “Djuka” Tesla (née Mandic) was born in 1822 in Tomingaj, Gracac as the fourth (out of eight) child of Serbian Orthodox priest father Nikola (1800–1863) and mother Sofija (née Budisavljevic). Georgina's brothers included Metropolitan Nikolaj Mandic (1840–1907 and Serbian Orthodox priest Toma Mandic (1827–1906). The Mandic family is originally one of the oldest Serbian families in Lika.
In 1845, she married her husband Milutin. Georgina was multi-talented and lived long enough to enjoy the fame of her son Nikola.
Georgina Tesla died in the town of Gospic on April 4, 1892 at the age of 71. She was buried alongside her husband in the village of Divoselo.
