Ella H. Grotegut, 96, Town Centerville resident, went home to her Lord on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at her residence.

She was born February 8, 1920 in Sheboygan, the daughter of the late Gottlieb and Emily Albertine Gross. She attended schools in Sheboygan and Town Centerville. On September 25, 1937, Ella was united in marriage to Alvin E. Grotegut at St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland. The couple resided in Cleveland (Hika) until 1943 when they moved to the Grotegut homestead farm in Town Centerville where they engaged in dairy farming.. The marriage was blessed with a son. Mr. Grotegut passed away November 22, 1982. The farm continued with Ella and her son. Ella played a very important role in the making of meals for the employees and the general operations of Shoreline Acres. She was a member of Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church in Newton.

Ella is survived by her son, Dennis of Centerville; one half-sister, Angeline Hirsck of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Frieda (Raymond) Grotegut of Manitowoc, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter (Helen) Gross, Elmer (Viola) Gross, and Harvey (Elaine) Gross; one sister and brother-in-law, Adela (Harry) Wielebski; two step sisters and their husbands, Lavern (Milton) Mott and Lorrina (Minold) Nagel ; one step brother and his wife, Lester (Irene) Kono; one brother-in-law, Raymond Grotegut; five sisters-in-law and their husbands, Linda (Roland) Fries, Nelda (Edgar) Jacobi, Orma Grotegut, Violet (Urban) Jacobski and Adela Grotegut.

Funeral services for Ella will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 16, 2016, at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church in Newton. Rev. Kyle Sorensen will officiate and burial will follow at St. John Ebenezer Cemetery in Town Centerville. Friends may call at the CHURCH on Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service.

The Stoltenberg Funeral Chapel in Cleveland is assisting the family with these funeral arrangements.

A memorial fund has been established in Ella's name.

Dennis would like to express his thanks to River Bend Rehab, Shady Lane Rehab, Laurel Grove, and Holy Family Hospital for the care they gave his mother.
