Bruss, Rudie L.

Rudie L. Bruss, age 70, of 3311 Wildwood Drive, Manitowoc, died Friday, September 16, 2016, at home after a lengthy illness with ALS.

Rudie was born on November 10, 1945, in Manitowoc, son of the late Lester and Frieda (Wiederholdt) Bruss. He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1963. Rudie attended Lakeland College, Sheboygan, WI, and graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. On December 28, 1967 he married the former Jill Beduhn. He was employed at Manitowoc Engineering Company and for over 14 years and held positions in management, including General Factory Sales Manager which involved both domestic and international travel. Rudie was then employed at Omega Manufacturing Corp., Two Rivers, WI, as Marketing Manager until he purchased his own company, Manitowoc Prototypes, in 1995. He retired in 2008. Rudie was an active member and leader at Redeemer Lutheran Church, having served several terms as President of the congregation and several terms of the Board of Education. He also taught Youth Bible Class for a number of years and served on various other committees. Rudie enjoyed hunting, fishing, wildlife and birds. He also enjoyed playing tennis for many years.

Survivors include his wife: Jill, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law: Jeff and Jill Bruss, Fort Worth, TX; one daughter and son-in-law: Sarah and Derf Reese, Green Bay, WI; two grandchildren: Emanual and Tazia Reese; one sister: Geraldine Franz, Newhall, CA; one sister-in-law: Shirley Bruss, Las Vegas, NV; and one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Jack and Rita Beduhn, Fallbrook, CA. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by one brother: Herman Bruss; and one brother-in-law: Ray Franz.

Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Richard Miller with burial of cremated remains to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Rudie's name.
