Word has been received of the death of Alva Herschell Davis, 54. who died suddenly while visiting a daughter, Mrs. William Mitchell, at Bryson City. N. C.
Mr. Davis was a member of the board of stewards of the St. Paul Methodist Church, the Kennett Masonic Lodge, and was a past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star. He worked for the Frisco Railway for 36 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. A. H. Davis of Springfield; a daughter, Mrs. W. E. Mitchell of Bryson City, N. C; a brother, Delmer of Steele; a sister. Mrs. Louise Collins of Holland, Mo.; and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be conducted today at the Bryson City Methodist Church, with the Rev. Joseph Houser to officiate. Graveside service will be conducted by Oconee Masonic Lodge of Bryson, in the Bryson City Cemetery. Burial will be under the direction of the bill Moody Funeral Home of Bryson City.
