She was married on September 7, 1920 at her mother's home on Saint Louis Avenue in Nashville, Davidson County to William Franklin "Frank" Atwood Sr (1894–1975), the son of Moses Thomas Atwood (ca Oct 1859– ) and Florence Elizabeth (Minnich) Atwood (1866–1955).
A retired clerk for a garment manufacturing company and living at 1621 Fatherland Street in Nashville, Myrtle was 64 years old and married when she had a stroke and died on May 4, 1964 at Park View Hospital.
Survivors included her husband W Frank Atwood, daughters Mrs Odell Felts and Mrs Jerry Scribner in Nashville and Mrs Albert Syvarth of Hoboken, New Jersey, sons Master Sergeant William F Atwood Jr in the US Army in Puerto Rico, Edwin E Atwood and Robert T Atwood of Nashville, John W Atwood at Springfield, Tennessee, J Donald Atwood in Donelson, Tennessee and Richard Atwood of Charleston, South Carolina, twenty-four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
