A German-born Merchant (later listed as a distiller), and resident of Philadelphia with healthy complexion, Brown eyes, and dark hair. File card says he was 38 but according to death certificate he was born about 1829 so would have been about 32 years old. Captain Frederick Oppmann, aka Frederick Oppman, enlisted in Company D of the 75th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment on August 9 1861 as a 1st Lieutenant. Promoted from 1st Lieutenant to Captain of Company F on August 14, 1862. He resigned on January 12, 1863.

He was the husband of Barbara Oppmann. 1890 Veteran's census states he has Neurologia Hard sight and hearing.

Death records show he was a member of Saint Paul's (Evangelical) Lutheran Church 4th Street Below Girard and that his body was first interred at Palmer Vault. Whether he remained in this cemetery is unclear at this time.
