Private Leopold Grossman, born in Germany and a tailor by trade, enlisted in Company D of 40th Pennsylvania Infantry which soon became the 75th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment and enlisted On August 24 1861 and Mustered out on August 28 1864 upon expiration of term of service. He also served in Company B of the 82nd Illinois Infantry. He was a Jewish Civil War Soldier.
