Of Bayside, passed away September 15, 2016 at the age of 93 years. She is now reunited in Heaven with her loving husband of 67 years, Lester, who passed in April of 2012. Born in Manitowoc on February 22, 1923, Jo married her high school sweetheart, traveling all the way to Kingsville, Texas by bus and train, where Lester had been stationed toward the end of WWII. Telling the story of her odyssey, she added that she perched on her suitcase the entire journey, as all available seats were given to "men in uniform". Following the war, Jo was employed as a secretary in the Law School in the University of Wisconsin, while Lester received his engineering degree.
Jo's life revolved around her family and her church. She leaves a daughter, Bonnie, and her husband Alan Driscoll of Cape Cod, MA; a son Jeffery, and his wife Karen, of Las Vegas, NV; a son Brian, and his wife Paula, of Hartford, WI; and a son Christopher, and his wife Whitey, of Cedarburg, WI as well as four grand-daughters and three great-grandchildren.
Jo's other passion was her church, especially the music and the church choir. She had a fine alto voice, and could provide harmony to any hymn. As a teenage girl, she often sang on a local Manitowoc radio station.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay, 819 E. Silver Spring Dr., Whitefish Bay, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place Thursday at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, WI. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Chancel Choir Scholarship Singer Fund, c/o Whitefish Bay United Methodist Church or Horizon Home Care & Hospice.
