Doris Marie Brenize, 79, of Shippensburg, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 in the Shippensburg Health Care Center.

She was born December 3, 1936 in Newburg, PA. Doris was a daughter of the late Jacob and Martha Rine Crider. One son, James E. Brenize and one brother Melvin Crider are also deceased.

She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Newburg. Doris was passionate about children, retiring from Shippensburg Area School District, where she worked as a Math and Reading Specialist. She spent countless summers volunteering at the Shippensburg Public Library. Doris was a founding Board Member of the Shippensburg Community Fair where she Co-Chaired Food Concessions until 2012. She was a member of the Franklin County Farm Women and the Fort Morris Chapter #3324, Shippensburg. Doris enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, and baking. She was a 1954 graduate of the Chambersburg High School.

She is survived by her husband Paul W. Brenize whom she married June 5, 1954, one son, Steven P. Brenize and his wife Anita of Shippensburg, a daughter in law, Angie Chamberlin and her husband Lloyd of Shippensburg, seven grandsons, six granddaughters, nine great grandchildren, two brothers, Jake and Gerald Crider of Shippensburg, one sister, Bertha Kolva of Chambersburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 in the Otterbein United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Susan Stewart, and Rev. John A. Ile, Jr. Burial will be held in the Otterbein Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services in church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Otterbein United Methodist Church, 15634 Paxton Run Road, Newburg, PA 17240, or the American Heart Association, 1019 Mumma Road Wormlesburg, PA 17043, or the Shippensburg Public Library, 73 West King Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
