On September 3, 1950, Dale was united in marriage to Helen Anne Erikson at Sanborn, Iowa. From February of 1951 to January of 1953, he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. For a time, he was stationed in Germany with Company A of the 321st Signal Corps. Following his honorable discharge, Dale returned home and began farming with Helen on the place where he had been born near Hartley. Together they raised their two children, Randy and Patsy, and farmed the land for the next 31 years.
In 1978, the family relocated into the town of Sanborn. For several years, Dale was employed part-time by the Sanborn Telephone Company, while still farming near Hartley. When Sanborn Telephone was purchased by the Northern Iowa Telephone Company, Dale became a full-time employee, retiring from the company in December of 1993.
Dale was a member of the Onyx Lodge #419 of Sanborn, Scottish Rite of Sioux City, Iowa, and the Sanborn American Legion, Earl T. Conaway Post #318. He found golf to be a rather relaxing pastime, and was a member of the Monday and Wednesday Night Men's League, as well as the Mixed League of the Sanborn Golf and Country Club. He also enjoyed the Monday morning Senior Golf Round Robin (OFIC) and the 10-20 Club.
Dale moved to the Prairie View Nursing Home at Sanborn in April of 2015, and resided there until his passing on September 27, 2016 at the age of 87.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Art and Vera Albert; his wife, Helen Albert; and his brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Irma Albert.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Randy (Robin) Albert of Spencer, Iowa, and Patsy (Michael) Schrant of Bellevue, NE; grandchildren: Traci (Dan) Genson, and their children, Kahlie and Addyson all of Royal, Iowa, Chris (Shelby) Albert and their children, Maren and Nolan all of Ames, Iowa, and Doug (Taylor) Albert and their children, Kinnick, Trice, and Carver also of Royal, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
