Joan E. (Nuzzetti) Mero, 78, of Worcester passed away peacefully Sunday, December 27th in her home surrounded by her family.
Joan is survived by her devoted husband and partner of 59 years, John A. Mero ; a daughter, Janet Eros and her husband Larry of Grapevine Texas; her son in law Stephen Mills of Worcester; three cherished grandchildren, Christina, Tyler and Alexandra Mills; two brothers, Arnold and Ralph Nuzzetti of Worcester; her sisters in law, Dolores Law and Ida Manguilli; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends; Her daughter, Joyce M. Mills passed away in March of 2001; a grandson Gregory Mills passed away in 1985. A brother Anthony Nuzzetti, In laws, Frank Mero, Grace Astrella and Angelina Pozzessere all predeceased her. Joan was born in Worcester; her parents were the late Anthony and Carmella (D’Angelo) Nuzzetti. She graduated from Commerce High School and has lived here all her life.
Joan worked several years as an Office Assistant for Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church several years before retiring.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church and enjoyed spending time with “The Club”. Joan was a simple, gentle woman, who cherished her family and friends. Her smile and sense of humor were infectious and comforting.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, December 29th from the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St with a Mass at 9:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Monday, December 28th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions may be made to the Umass Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln St. Worcester 01605.
