Mr. John Lutz was called to his eternal rest on March 13, 1989 at the age of 84 years. He was born to Jacob and Wilhelmina (nee Pekrul) Lutz on March 30, 1904 in Kostopol, Russia. At his baptism shortly after his birth he was given the Christian name of John. In 1912, John immigrated to Canada with his parents, one brother and three sisters on the (Graf Waldersee) which sailed at the same time as the Titanic and took on some of the passengers from the Titanic when it sank. The family settled in Neudorf, Sask. In 1919, John was confirmed in the faith by Pastor Schmock at Christ Lutheran Church, Neudorf. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Killaly for 38 years and served on the church council there for many years. As a young man John worked on several farms in the Lemberg and Neudorf districts. He was united in marriage to Mary Ellerman on February 22, 1928. The couple farmed in the Killaly district until 1967 when they retired to Melville. John had been a resident of St. Paul Lutheran Home since February 1987. He was predeceased by one son, Gordon, one daughter Shirley; brother Ernest; two sisters Christina Waldbauer and Ottilia Goebel, a great-granddaughter Christina Piller. He leaves to mourn, his wife Mary, 2 sons, 4 daughters, 6 sisters, 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
