Dick Dean Kesling, 89, formerly of Cass County, Indiana and Clearwater, Florida passed away at 6:08 a.m. Sunday, September 18, 2016 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Born May 24, 1927, in Onward, Indiana, he was the son of the late Frederick Cecil and Anna Rozella (Fitzer) Kesling. The Kesling family moved to Royal Center, Indiana in 1938.
He was married to Doris Lee (Cox) Schaeperklaus Kesling, who preceded him in death February 4, 2016.
Dick proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII as a pharmacist's mate on the destroyer USS Caldwell.
Upon leaving the Navy, Dick finished high school and opened his own drug store in Kirklin, Indiana. He found his way to Clearwater, Florida and was one of Jack Eckerd's first employees. Dick later joined the DePree Company where he worked for 35 years as Vice President of Sales, working closely with Eckerd Drugs.
Dick resided in Clearwater, Florida for over 60 years. Following his retirement, he was involved with the Belleview Biltmore Country Club and the Belleview Biltmore Homes Association.
His is survived by his loving children: Michael Kesling of Mooresville, North Carolina, Kim Williams of Sarasota, Florida, Pamela (Kevin) Brady of Clearwater, Florida and Gary (Tricia) Kesling, Charlotte, North Carolina; four brothers: Irvin (Bea) Kesling, Kokomo, Estell (Mary) Kesling and Norman (Mary Lou) Kesling, all of Logansport and Willis Kesling, of Royal Center; eight grandchildren: Dean Ward, Todd Williams, Blake Williams, Juliette Williams, Charlie Kettell, Candice Kettell, Andrew Kesling and Bradley Kesling; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Blair Williams; one sister Mary Elizabeth Fisher; one brother Bobby Kesling, one nephew John D. Fisher and his former wife and mother of his children, Marjorie Berkshire Kesling.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Dick Kesling will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 15th at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 34774
