Mariah Jordan, 82, well known negro resident, died at her home on Troupe street this morning after a short illness.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
She is survived by Norwood Strickland, Horace Strickland, Mandy Townsend, Mary Uddyback, Parry Hall, all of this city, and Young Strickland of Detroit, Mich.

She was the daughter of Jack Griffin and Manda Jordan.
She was born into slavery. She had several children by Isaac Newton Strickland, a white man.
