Foreman of Ryan Paper Box Co. Dies of Complications
Webster J. Amer, Superintendent of W. H. Ryan Paper Box Company and prominently known in this city, died Sunday afternoon in the Sacred Heart hospital, from complications, aged 62 years, 10 months and 23 days.
Mr. Amer was a son of Amanda J., nee Haas, and the late Aaron Arner, and was born near Snydersville, Lehigh county.
For the past thirty-three years he was employed at the Ryan factory, and through long years of employment there and diligent application to his chosen line, advanced from one position to another until he became its superintendent.
He was an active member of the First Presbyterian church and held a number of lodge affiliations.
He is survived by his mother, two daughters, Mrs. Harry E. Haas, of 2523 Washington street, with whom he made his home since the death of his wife in May, 1925, and Mrs. Elwood L. Maloney; a granddaughter Lola J. Maloney, all of this city; one sister, Mrs. Levi Ziegler, of Chapmans, and a brother, Frank Amer, of this city.
The funeral will be conducted from the Haas home on Thursday at 1.30 o'clock. Services will be conducted at the house by Rev. S. K. Piercy, D. D., pastor of the First Presbyterian church.
