Samuel J. May, of Peshtigo, W, I son of Alice (Brownell) and Clifford May, died Friday, October 7, 2016, at his home. He was born May 4, 1926 in the Town of Grover, Marinette County.

Sam graduated from the Job Place School in the Town of Grover and attended Peshtigo High School.
He enlisted in the United States military in 1944, serving three different tours of duty in the Army over eight years and nine months.
Sam then worked for Meyer Construction, the City of Peshtigo and at Badger Paper Mills, retiring in 1991 after 40 years of employment. He was a member of the Peshtigo United Methodist Church.

He married the former Carol Brusewitz on July 21, 1955.

Sam is survived by his wife;
one daughter, Phyllis (David) Lorenz of Peshtigo, WI;
two sons: Phillip (Kim) of Los Angeles, Calif. and Patrick of Milwaukee, WI;
three grandchildren: Katie (Brian) Daul, Jacob (Crystal) Lorenz and Marc May;
and three great-grandchldren: Bennett and Lauren Daul and Jayden May.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his step-father, Ed Hipke; three brothers: Clifford (Blair), Harvey and Harold; three sisters: Barbara Tebo, Margaret Hilsabeck and Janet Bruemmer; a daughter-in-law, Vicki May; and a daughter, Patrice.

Friends may call at the Peshtigo United Methodist Church on Monday, October 10, 2016, from 9 until 11 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiating.
