Sweetman, Marilyn

Marilyn Sweetman, age 81, a Manitowoc resident, died Friday, October 14, 2016 at St. Mary's Nursing Home of the Felician Village, Manitowoc.

Marilyn was born May 25, 1935, in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Raymond and Edna (Kappelmann) King. She was a graduate of Two Rivers High School with the class of 1953. On September 12, 1953 she married James W. Sweetman at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2000. Marilyn was employed at Mirro Company and retired from the Manitowoc County Health Care Center. She enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, the outdoors, going to the pool at The Wellness Center and traveling. She visited many states, including Alaska and also traveled to Ireland. Marilyn was known for her German potato salad and fruitcakes.

Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law: James D. and Mary Sweetman, Manitowoc, Mark and Connie Sweetman, NM, Michael Sweetman, Fond du Lac, Daniel and Jill Sweetman, Holmen; two daughters and one son-in-law: Karen and Gregory Goertz, Manitowoc, Susan Sweetman and Dan Alaniva, Abrams; eight grandchildren: Sarah (Andrew) Schwalbe, Katie (Danny) Williams, James (Alex) Sweetman, Matthew (Megan) Goertz, Elizabeth (Elliott) Swetlik, Mari Sweetman, Evelyn Sweetman and Samuel Sweetman; five great grandchildren: Samantha, Cooper, Cayden, James and Steven; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Donald King, Crivitz, Charles (Barbara) King, Manitowoc; one sister: Virginia McGovern, DePere; three brothers-in-law: Gordon Sweetman, Robert (Lynn) Sweetman, and William Sweetman; and two sisters-in-law: Florence Gorman and Nancy (Chuck) Vesely. Nieces, nephews, other relatives along with special friends Donny Escher and Ellen Everix also survive. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren: Jennifer and Kevin; and other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Alan Boeldt with burial of Marilyn's cremated remains to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
