Edward was a close friend of mine and when I saw his memorial felt obligated to get a bio on him on Find A Grave. Proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Edward worked in a program in Brooklyn in the early 1950's to help children from Puerto Rico. The program was through the Catholic Church. It was in this program where Ed met his future wife Catherine the woman he would marry. I and my wife were in his wedding party. Ed's father was an Union Iron Worker and was able to get his son in the apprentice program and a union member. As an iron worker for Locals 361 and 40 for over 39 years, he was involved in the construction of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge and the World Trade Center. One day while working on the building a bridge Ed's coworker fell and Ed caught him. Eventually he could not hold him any more and he fell to his death. Ed felt guilty about this the rest of his life. by Herb Canapary
