Sunny was born on September 17, 1951 in New York City to Milton Kern and Phyllis Kern (Madzel).
Sunny and her husband Bob married in San Jose, CA on March 3, 1978. They relocated to New Mexico in 1986 and resided in Santa Fe for over 20 years where she served the La Cienega Volunteer Fire Department for twelve years and received the rank of Asst. Fire Chief/EMT. Most recently, Sunny lived in McIntosh, NM for several years. Sunny belonged to ABATE of New Mexico. Sunny was an animal lover who rescued and adopted many animals throughout her life and she enjoyed volunteering for local animal rescue groups.
Sunny was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Robert J. Ganley, father, Milton Kern, mother, Phyllis Kern (Madzel) and sisters Marilyn, Andrea and Arlene.
Sunny is survived by son, Robert and his wife, Ashley of Albuquerque and grandson, Zachary Robert who is on the way, son, John and his wife, Amanda also of Albuquerque, daughter, Tracy Grycel and her husband, Ted of Moriarty, sister, Teri Brock, grandchildren, Annette Topham and her husband, Mark, Blair Strand-Grycel and Mary Strand-Grycel, Nick Grycel, Sarah Grycel, Angie Moreno and great-grandchildren, Ruby, Perry, Mollie, Brody, Gracie, Lillie, James, Joshua, Luke, David, Abby, Joyce, Diamond, Douglas, Roxanne, Jesse, Joseph and Mairi.
There will be a Memorial Service at the New Beginning Community Church, 200 Eunice, Moriarity, NM on Friday October 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers donations be made to The Wildlife West Nature Park in Edgewood, NM and the Santa Fe Raptor Center in Santa Fe, NM in her memory.
