Mary Jane Galer's list of persons buried in the Old Cemetery section of Linwood shows: Monroe NELSON died aged 11 months of diphtheria; buried 08 SEP 1892. The original burial record in the sexton's ledger book also mentions that he was born in Georgia and was buried in the Old Cemetery section as a resident of Columbus, Georgia (so probably died there). The sexton was Abraham ODOM.
Daniel Olds’ index of deaths, AUG 1890 to DEC 1918, from the Muscogee County Death Register, on file with the Muscogee County Health Department’s Office of Vital Records, shows: Monroe NELSON, "White" male, died aged 1 year on 07 SEP 1892. [On this list, age 1 year could be anything between age 0 and 2 years. Also, despite appearances, this database is not proof that someone died in Muscogee County. Analysis indicates that the database includes information on persons who were buried at one of the Columbus municipal cemeteries, whether they died in Muscogee County or elsewhere, and usually excludes persons who died in Muscogee County but were buried at a site other than one of the Columbus municipal cemeteries.]
This grave is probably not identifiably marked.
