She was the sister of James H. Newby, Alma Newby Burkhead, Mary Newby Riley, and Blanche Newby Alsip.
Dean, 83, of 429 Larue St, died Thursday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.
Born Nov. 1, 1906, in Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Hansford and Iva Turner Newby. She was a former teacher in the Washington and Mercer County school systems and a former employee of Kentucky State Hospital. She was a member of Bohon Road Baptist Church and the widow of William Hansford Dean.
Survivors include a son, Raymond Henninger of Harrodsburg; a brother, James H. Newby of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Alma Burkhead and Blanche Newby Alsip, both of Harrodsburg, and Mary Riley of Salvisa; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home in Harrodsburg. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
