Mattie Bonner Evatt---September 6th, 1919--April 14, 2023, 103 Loving and devoted wife of the late Lawrence Evatt, passed away peacefully at Lila Doyle, Seneca, SC. Born in Carroll County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Sanders N. Bonner and Evie Cagle Bonner. She was retired from the Newry Mill and was a long-time member of Lydia Baptist Church.
Mattie spent most of life living in Newry and served her church and her community after her retirement, volunteering many years as a poll worker at the election precinct, singing in the choir and a member of the benevolent committee at Lydia. She loved to spend time with her family and friends and was a devoted "Nana" to her grandchildren and their friends alike. She was never short on words and genuinely loved everyone she met.
In addition to her husband, Mattie was preceded in death by her children, Sybil Evatt Reece, Marshall Evatt and Ricky Evatt. She is survived and missed by her grandchildren, Keith Wright, Denise Morris, Kevin Wright, Kelli Shifflett, Melanie Evatt, Matthew Evatt, Lance Evatt and Lee Evatt as well as seven great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Lila Doyle for taking such extraordinary care of their beloved Nana these last 9 years.

Burial will take place at Oconee Memorial Park in Seneca SC
