Vera Dagwell, 101, of Indian River, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Hancock Haven Assisted Living in Cheboygan.
Vera was born June 24, 1910 in Isabella County, the daughter of William and Lavina (Thren) Fox. She was a graduate of Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant and later taught school in Indian River, where she met and married her husband Leonard Dagwell. She lived her entire married life in Indian River, except during World War II when was with her husband who served in the Army Air Corp.
Vera enjoyed life, and was a caring and compassionate person who often cared for individuals or worked for businesses who needed assistance. She was also active in and a member of the Indian River United Methodist Church.
Surviving is her brother, Louis (Patricia) Fox of Venice, Florida, a sister, Mary Jane Bills of Crystal, many nieces and nephews, including Sylvia (Ken) Swadling of Indian River, Collen Tam of Hawaii, and Sherry Hires of California, and special friends Barbara Merchant, Jim Smith, and Billie Burdick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leonard C. Dagwell in 1982, her son, Leonard Burt Dagwell in 2006, a sister, Inez Bartlett, and three brothers, Evert, Joseph, and Myron Fox.
