Howard J. Abare , 77, died at CVPH Medical Center. He was the son of Harry and Lucille (Douglas) Abare.
Howie graduated from Keeseville Central School in 1958 and, afterward, he served in the United States Air Force. Many will remember him for his role as General Manager of Friendly's Restaurant in Plattsburgh. He received recognition from the Easter Seals Foundation of New Hampshire and Vermont for helping raise money for handicap adults and children through Friendly Ice Cream Corporation.
Howie was predeceased by his parents and by his twin sisters, Jean and Joan, who died at birth. He is survived by Betty, the mother of his children; his children, Patti (Tim) Trombley, Penny (Kevin) Matott, Michelle Abare, and step-daughter, Susan Howe. Also by grandchildren, Troy, Cole, Ashleigh, and Kelsey and her fiance Tim; his great-grandchildren, Clara and Jackson; several cousins including Herbie Rock which was like a brother.
Mass of Christian Burial: St. Peter's Church.
Entombment: St. Peter's Columbarium with full military honors.
