Alta was born in Wilson County on September 10, 1918 to the late Robert Henry Cleveland Bailey and Lucy May Batts Bailey.
She was married to the late Robert Worth Williams , who preceded her in death on December 31, 1984. She was retired from the business office at Wake Med.

Surviving are daughter, Kaye Williams Tomlinson and husband, Gene of Raleigh; sons, Jack Worth Williams of Garner, Rex David Williams and wife, Bonnie of Raleigh; grandchildren, Josh Tomlinson and wife, Lynda of Orlando, FL, Jeremy Tomlinson of Raleigh, Stephen Williams and fiancee, Beth Stauffer of Pineville, Greyson Williams Wright and husband, Philip of Gainseville, FL, Taylor Williams of Raleigh; great-grandchilden, Max Tomlinson and Cody Tomlinson, both of Orlando, FL; sisters, Annie Ruth B.
