Cpl Edward Barden, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Sterlings Township, North Carolina.

Cpl Edward Barden was a member of the Army, CPL Barden served our country until July 25th, 1967 in Tay Ninh, South Vietnam. He was 19 years old and was not married. It was reported that Edward died when he was killed accidentally by friendly fire. His body was recovered. CPL Barden was born in Sterlings Township, Robeson County, NC. CPL Barden is on panel 23E, line 118 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.

A Special thanks to Larry Baxter who helped with research of the Columbus Co. NC soldiers and helped with the Traveling Vietnam Wall when it came through Whiteville.

Edward Barden was born in Sterlings Township, Robeson County, NC. He grew up in Whiteville, Columbus County. He was born to Mr Lennon Barden and Mrs Viola Miller Barden. He has 4 sisters and 1 brother. 1062 Camp Ground Road, Whiteville, NC.

He served with Charlie Company, 4th Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, "The Rock", 173rd Airborne Brigade, USARV.

He was awarded The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal.
