February 25, 1935 – November 6, 2016

Amelia R. Benavides, 81, joined her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at a local hospital.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Ignacia Rodriguez; her husband Wenceslao Benavides; her sons, Andres and Gerardo Benavides; her grandson Alberto Benavides; her granddaughter Crista J. Benavides; and her great-granddaughter Aneela Rochel Lara.
She is survived by her children, Janie Leal, Diamantina Benavides, Amelia B. (Robert) Moore, Wenceslao Benavides, Jr., Ariadna B. (Jesus) Mier all of Laredo; Alberto (Martha) Benavides of Houston, TX and her daughter–in–law Sara Sweatt. Other survivors include her brothers, sisters, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends and family on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer service at 7:00 p.m.; officiated by Pastor Johnathon Aragon at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels; 719 Loring at Cortez.
A Chapel Service will be conducted Thursday morning, November 10, 2016 at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels at 9:30 a.m.
Interment will follow immediately at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Alberto Benavides, Wenceslao Benavides, Jr., Robert P. Moore, Hector E. Leal, Marco A. Benavides, and Robert P. Moore, II.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jesus S. Mier and Gerardo A. Dominguez.
