Grand Forks, ND – Carol Hanson, 75, of Larimore, ND died Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Altru Health Center.

VISITATION will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, November 21st with a prayer service at 7 pm at Bakke Funeral Home in Larimore. The FUNERAL will be at 10:30 a.m.Tuesday, November 22nd at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Larimore, ND. INTERMENT will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore.

Carol Wixo was born to Jens and Amie Wixo on August 12, 1941 and grew up on a farm in rural Niagara, North Dakota. The only girl with three brothers (Jerome, Tony, and Al) engrained her with her ability to keep up with the boys if not exceed them. There was where she garnered a fervent work ethic which she carried her entire life. She attended elementary school in a one room rural school (Adler #2) on land donated by her father. She finished her high school education at Larimore High School graduating in 1959. Following graduation and throughout her life she was employed at various businesses including Elk Valley State Bank, Mutch Oil, Henry’s Red Owl, Trosen Ford, and Northwood Bean Company. No matter where she worked, her energy was always evident. In her “spare time”, she and her husband would paint, stain, and varnish many of the homes in the Larimore area.

She met her future husband as a young lady at the Larimore Bowling alley. Shortly after meeting Ron Hanson, a 54 year partnership ensued as they were married on December 1, 1962. Carol was a proud parent of three sons: Tom, Russell, and Jason. She was a very vocal fan at her boys sporting events and enjoyed family and friend camping outings during the summer. She excelled at being the proud grandparent and greatly enjoyed doting over her great grandchildren .

Carol was a true social butterfly who lived for helping others whether they were friends, relatives or people she hardly knew. If someone needed something, she’d be the first to try to help. She enjoyed her breakfast group and the many friends she had coffee chats with. She was a bingo connoisseur and enjoyed an outing at the casino with her husband Ron. Carol was a long time member of Our Savior’s Lutheran church of Larimore and an active a participant in its Rachel Circle group.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents Jens and Amie Wixo, her brother Jerome Wixo, and her son Tom Hanson.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of one week shy of 54 years, Ron Hanson; Brothers, her sons, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
