PEARISBURG, Va. ? Glen Gordon Kirk, 84, of Pearisburg went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007 at the Salem VA Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born June 1, 1922 at Trigg, Va. the son of the late Jesse Reed Kirk and Mary Lelie Morehead Kirk. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Paul Gibson Kirk, two infant brothers and a son-in-law, Lannie Ray St.Clair.
He was an active member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a World War II veteran, a member of Pembroke American Legion Post No. 311 and Narrows V.F.W. Post No. 6000. He was a retired employee of Celanese where he gave 43 years of dedicated service.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Opal Ruth Mustard Kirk; three sons and daughter-in-law, James Gordon Kirk of Staffordsville, Va., William Edward Kirk of Pearisburg, Michael Dale and Carol Kirk of Pearisburg; two daughters and son-in-law, Rebecca (Becky) and Dean Moore of Pulaski, Va., Mary Leigh Kirk of Pearisburg; 11 grandchildren, Amy Shay, Beth Osbourne, Susan Adkins, Billie Jean Husky, Rachael Lineberry, Ashley, Kristie and Alicia St.Clair, Samantha Trenar, Gary Evans, Heather Kirk; one brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Louise Kirk of Rich Creek, Va.; one sister, Irene Tickle of Christiansburg, Va.; a sister-in-law, Cleo Kirk of Staffordsville, Va.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Trigg with the Rev. Betty Roberts and the Rev. Kim Goddard officiating. Military graveside rites by the Narrows V.F.W. Post No. 6000, Narrows American Legion Post No. 68 and Pembroke American Legion Post No. 311 at the Kirk Cemetery.
Visitation will be at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, Va. on Saturday (today) after 3:30 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
